Preserving the Identity of non-GM Crops in South Australia    
 

This paper,  issued by the The Government of South Australia, designed to encourage informed public and industry comment during the development of policy for Government consideration.

The document contains:

(1) outlines the national scheme for regulating dealings with genetically modified organisms (GMOs)

(2) outlines the system in Australia for regulating food produced using gene technology for human consumption, including requirements for labelling GM food

(3) outlines ways of limiting mixing of GM and non-GM crops and products

(4) describes a number of mechanisms which could be used to preserve the identity of non-GM crops  for public consideration.

(5) raises issues about the different mechanisms and other issues for public consideration
